Details
Many materials react in contact with hot temperatures, releasing gasses and other chemical substances. The aim of this project was to provoke the reaction to embed the gasses into the glass piece, to obtain a naturally bubbled surface.
The simplest and non-toxic material was found to be kitchen salt. Casting molten glass on top of pre-shaped blocks of salt, it was possible to obtain glass pieces with a very fine bubbled texture inside the glass itself.
