Details
Kiln casting usually implies the use of heavy plaster or steel moulds. In contrast to that, this project aimed to explore the potential of thin metal mesh as a medium to create the mould. By simple folding or stamping, a metal mesh can become a structural three-dimensional crucible for the glass. The advantage of using these meshes is not only the big difference of volume and weight of the mould, but also in the fine optical effects that texture and folds can transfer to the glass surface.
